STEREO A STEREOSCOPIC CAMERA
Seneca
Camera Manufacturing Company, Rochester, New York 1911 - 1912
As early as 1903, the Seneca Camera Company was offering
to equip their Models 15, 17, 19 and 21 with a Wollensak
Stereo Automatic Shutter, which then deemed the cameras as the "Seneca
Stereo Number 15", "Seneca Stereo Number 17" "Seneca Stereo
Number 19" and "Seneca Stereo Number 21".
Based upon the Wollensak TIB
Shutter it's equipped with, this Seneca
Stereo A stereoscopic camera would date to 1911-1912, as by 1913, the
shutter in either single-lens or stereoscopic form was no longer offered. This
example sports a unique lens standard base-mounted folding viewfinder.
By 1914, Seneca had dropped the Seneca Stereo B, the last
remaining stereoscopic self-casing camera they offered.
